Question by : Can i purchase an older smartphone for verizon, activate it, and only pay 10 bucks a month?
I heard that on November 14th 2007 Verizon was requiring data plans for smartphones. I have also heard that if you purchase a smartphone made before this date you could activate it and only pay the 9.99 a month. (Yes i am aware few smartphones existed back then.) Some examples would be the Palm Centro and the Motorola Q9c. I am on a family plan if that matters.

Honestly, that’s probably not even worth it. Palm centro….eh…
Besides you would need to unlock it, and get a Verizon plan, which means you would pay the full thirty dollars anyway.
If you unlocked your phone before 2007 you didn’t have to pay.
